Monday 20th January – 1-2pm – Seminar Room, Byrne House

You are invited to the next session of the Biological Interest Group on Monday 20th January. As usual it will be held in the seminar room at Byrne House, from 1-2pm. Participants can bring lunch and drinks if they wish.

Ann-Sophie Barwich will be returning to Exeter to present the “A Fine Nose for Timeliness: The Discovery of The Olfactory Receptors and Its Role within the Life of an Emerging Experimental System.” This is a first and very recent draft intended for the call for papers for the Philosophy of Science Association biennial meeting, where the word limit is 5000 (incl. abstract and references). As Ann is already a little over the limit, she would appreciate any help where to shorten it. Otherwise she is very interested in what parts of the paper, especially the philosophical argument, need further clarification or would best be further explored in a second paper. Ann says she is very much looking forward to critical comments., but that positive ones are also welcomed!

To obtain the paper, or for any other information, please email Jim Lowe at jwel201 [at]

As this is a work in progress please do not disseminate further without Dr. Barwich’s express permission.
